Valuehost DNS manager

Task: to
configure DNS on VALUEHOST hosting to let the WWW server to understand
the request on *.domain.com names and to redirect it to www.domain.com.
I.e. you define .domain.com name.

 Decision:
Go to the Valuehost Control Panel –> DNS Manage –>
Choose your domain –> Press “Alias” button –> at the Domain
Alias Records Settings at field “Name” type “*”, at field
“Type” choose “A” , at field “Address” type IP address of the existing
www.domain.com. –> Press “Save”. Next go to “Server Manage”,
choose the domain we are configuring now. Among other neccessary things
there must be define server name domain.com, and the alias
*.domain.com. I.e star dot domain dot com. After a while you may test
at your favourite Exploder the URL blablabla.domain.com,
wert.domain.com, www.domain.com, ftp.domain.com. Should work.

Задача: наконфигурить ДНС в Valuehost так, чтобы WWW
сервер воспринимал запросы *.domain.com и переправлял всех на
www.domain.com. Т.е. определить имя <любое>.domain.com.
Это еще называется wildcards DNS.

Решение:
Идем в Valuehost Контрольную панель –> Настройки ДНС –>
Выбираем свой домен –> Жмем кнoпку “Alias” –> В таблице
Domain Alias Records Settings в поле “Name” пишем
“*”, в поле “Type” выбираем “A” , в поле “Address” пишем IP адрес
существующего www.domain.com. –> Жмем “Save”. Далее идем в
“Настройки сервера”, выбираем сервер на домене, который настраиваем.
Помимо всего прочего, что там определено, имя сервера должно быть
domain.com, синоним сервера *.domain.com, т.е. звезда точка домен точка
ком.
Через какое-то время в своем любимом браузере можно пробовать открыть
URLы blablabla.domain.com, wert.domain.com, www.domain.com,
ftp.domain.com. Должно работать.
